Tim Passmore

Thanks for visiting my site. I am a political scientist studying civil conflict management and international law and organizations.

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of International Studies and Political Science at the Virginia Military Institute.

I received my PhD in Political Science at the University of Colorado Boulder in May 2019. I received master's degrees from CU Boulder and the University of St Andrews.

My current research focuses on peacekeeping operations. One project assesses how well resourced peacekeeping is and what makes the international community more or less likely to support the provision of peace in conflict scenarios. Other projects consider the factors that make civil war parties more or less likely to admit peacekeepers, the role of international finance in peacekeeping, and the impact of peacekeeping on local and national economic indicators.

My research has been published in the Journal of Peace Research, Conflict Management and Peace Science, Foreign Policy Analysis, and Armed Forces & Society.

I am originally from London, England. I spend my free time on my farm in the Shenandoah Valley with my wife, Kim, and baby girl, Charlie, wrangling animals and brewing beer.
